SAS airplanes may have been fueled with Russian aviation fuel in violation of the current sanctions. This is revealed in an investigation by Danwatch and Ekstra Bladet
The fuel is said to have come to Europe from a Russian-owned company in India. By importing Russian fuel and processing it, the end product has been classified as Indian instead of Russian. This loophole has allowed them to bypass the sanctions.
SAS is now investigating the suspicions against its Indian subcontractor
"SAS does not accept trade with parties or products subject to sanctions, and we require our subcontractors to comply with the adopted sanctions," says SAS spokesperson Alexandra Lindgren to Ekstra Bladet.
